In which period was the Acts written? Luke completed the book before either of these events occurred - between 60AD and 62AD, while Paul sat in prison. Why is Acts so important? In this chapter, Paul is being taken to Rome where he will face trial before Caesar. On their journey, a major storm occurred, blocking the sun and stars for many days and took the ship off it's course. The crew started throwing cargo overboard to lighten the ships load. When the winds died down days later, Paul offered words of encouragement to those onboard. He said that although the ship will go down, nobody will die. He offered hope in a hopeless situation, and those onboard all survived.
