While in Jerusalem, Festus hears the officials and high priests relate stories to him regarding Paul. Even after two years in prison, this Jewish pack was still out to kill him. They asked for Festus' help to deliver Paul to them, which he refused as he wanted to first go to Caesarea to allow Paul to tell his own side of the story. We hear the grievous accusations against Paul as well as Paul's rebuttal and opportunity to minister in this trial.

In this chapter, Paul is sent to Caesarea after being rescued by 200 Roman soldiers from the plot to ambush him by more than 40 Jewish men. He's kept in Herod's judgement hall, when Ananias, the high priest, comes into his cell with several elders and a lawyer, Tertullus. He claims the high priest had just stopped Paul from committing what they believed was a defilement of the temple, when Lysias, a military commander interrupted them and took Paul away. Of course we know this is not true and more.

As we see from the time Paul was compelled by Holy Spirit to start his fourth and final mission trip; under normal circumstances this trip would have in no way been seen as a Holy Spirit led assignment. Not then or with today's Christianity. To Paul and Holy Spirit, this was just as much a missionary assignment as the first three. Keep that in mind, as we read this chapter, and we'll find the heart of Father God, to relentlessly bring salvation through Jesus Christ to everyone we meet as believers.
