In fact, the Bible is written around times and seasons, and I believe it is because timing is significant to enter into God’s perfect moment and move forward in step with Him. Tonight, at sundown is the beginning of the feast of Hanukkah, a time and season God has designed for His people to enter into His special presence. I invite you to listen to this podcast to understand the meaning and the significance of Hanukkah. The podcast ends with an intro of an exciting Bible study that starts next week. God bless you!

Last episode, we spoke about the Jewish Law, specifically pertaining to the Old Testament. Today, we are talking about the New Testament. What we need to understand beforehand is that both the Old Testament and the New Testament are about Jesus: the Old Testament being about Jesus prophesied, and the New Testament about Jesus revealed.

In our final lesson on the study of the second letter from Apostle Paul to the church of Thessalonica, he commands them about their social life. Often as believers, we can have an improper balance between in-house church spiritual activities, such as preaching, discipleship, fellowship and the call to outside-church spiritual activities, such as church planting, commissioning and more. Over and above that, we as believers will also have an improper balance between those church activities mentioned and our social life. With the example they, the Apostles themselves set, he commands them to not idle, but to pursue diligence in their social, personal, professional and spiritual life.

Todays lesson is Paul's request for prayer for the gospel to spread rapidly. Up until now, Paul has been encouraging the Thessalonian church and telling them about his constant prayers for them to overcome the hardships that they were going through. Now, Paul was teaching them to pray beyond themselves and their problems, but for the Kingdom of God and for those advancing the Kingdom of God.

In this lesson, we dive into the second Book of Thessalonians. Paul starts with a subject that needed clarification in this church - the second coming of Jesus Christ and how we will be gathered to meet him. In the first letter, he reminded them what he taught them about this subject - the events prior and leading up to the second coming of Jesus Christ. In this letter, we find that there was some deception and twisting of the truth that he needed to address about the second coming. There was a teaching going around claiming that the day of the Lord had already come. This chapter seeks to correct this discouraging error.

In this discipleship study, we learn about encouragement during persecution. Paul starts the letter by greeting the church together with his team and blessing them with the Lord's grace and peace. Like the year prior, he commends them for their flourishing faith and growing love for one another. This was a church going through persecution since it started and during this letter, still going through persecution and hardships.

In this study, there is so much Apostle Paul taught, reminded and encouraged the Thessalonian church. For this church, this was the only written Word of God they had and it was the only copy they had to read to everyone over and over. Just how precious and personal it was to them, and today it is just as precious and personal to us and so much written Word in our Bibles in so many versions.

Today, we are going to look at advice on honoring spiritual leaders and how to encourage each other. To the Greeks, all their philosophical knowledge meant practicing Agape love was not a common practice. Just like today, people were honored, respected and loved if they were seen as intelligent, high-achievers, assertive, heroes, highly-educated, rich, etc. The opposite was seen as a weakness. In this lesson, Paul gives this church advice on how to love like God - practically, with Paul's understanding of a Greek mind that has been influenced by Greek culture and philosophies.

Today, we are going to look at the encouragement of the second coming of Jesus Christ and life after death - the lesson that Apostle Paul taught the Thessalonian church to encourage each other with, and is still our encouragement today. This is a continuation from the previous chapter, where Paul was teaching about the hope of resurrection in Christ, encouraging the believers about their eternal life in heaven, with Jesus forever.

Today in our discipleship study, we are going to look at the hope of the resurrection - the lesson Apostle Paul taught the Thessalonian church to encourage each other with and still our encouragement for today. In his letters to church, Paul wanted the believers to know what happens to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like those who have no hope. This was a particularly important lesson because of the ancient Greek beliefs death, burial and Hades.
